A glamorous Night at Basilica

Bright lights, music, costumes and plenty of entertainment was the order on Thursday night for the youth of the Catholic Basilica at Leulumoega.

President of the Youth, Felaugaina Aiono, led from the front during a celebration that will be remembered for some time to come.

The prom night was a fundraising activity to help the youth group realise a dream.

“We have a project that we want to achieve next year,” he said.

“We wanted to record a CD next year but finances is definitely an issue so we thought of an event to raise money.

“At the same time we wanted to hold an event that will raise money and also draw the youth’s attention.

“So in the end, we came up with the idea of holding a prom night because we have never had a prom night ever since the church started.”

Felaugaina said the evening was also designed to get the youth away from trouble so they can focus on something more positive.

“We know that nowadays most problems start from the youth and so we thought having these kinds of programmes will help the youth come to church and join in some of the youth activities instead of going out with the wrong people,” he said.

“So that is what tonight all is about.”

As for the album, the President said they are confident they will have it released next year.

“So look out for it,” he said. “In the meantime, Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.”
