Keeping it sealed

So we now have the ludicrous and unsafe practice of a police officer taking it upon himself to take a revolver home from a police station because it “might go missing”.

The point is, it already is missing!

It is missing from the police station where it should be kept.

If it is an exhibit and part of evidence, it should be labeled and locked in the gun safe in Apia, not taken to a family home in a “sealed bag” for safety!

We have heard tales for years of numerous files needed as evidence going missing and now we have this.

What other evidence disappears?

And what other guns, licensed or unlicensed have gone missing from the safe keeping of the police?

“A Safer Samoa” is still a long, long way away.

And the trustworthiness of police even further.
