The Unit Trust of Samoa (U.T.O.S.) has opened a new office on Level 3 of the Development Bank of Samoa building.

In previous years, U.T.O.S. was based on the 7th floor of the Central Bank of Samoa building.

However the company’s growth, the increased staff numbers and the inconvenience of the location for their clients were some of the reasons behind their decision to find new premises.

They had also been sharing space with the newly-created Ministry of Public Enterprises.

Yesterday the Minister of Finance, Sili Epa Tuioti and Associate Minister, Mulipola Leiataua Laki were the special guests for the opening at the new location.

Chief Executive Officer of U.T.O.S., Sa’u Justina Sa’u, said the new location is more accessible for their clients.

“We were sharing the 7th floor of the Central Bank Building and it was getting crowded.”

Ms. Sa’u said it was also difficult for their elderly clients to climb the stairs as the C.B.S. elevators did not go up to Level 7.

“So it was good for us to move. This location as well is central, it’s close to the bus route and it’s easy to access.

“People can just come here, get on the elevator and come up to Level 3 of the D.B.S. building. It’s convenient.

“We are renting here for approximately $3,700 per month which is quite reasonable. We looked at other places, we chose here because there’s a lot of space.”

U.T.O.S. was established five and a half years ago and the organisation has grown and staff numbers have increased.

“When we first started there were only three staff members and over  the years, the number has tripled and we now have nine staff members including our own I.T. staff member.”

“We are happy with our new location and hopefully our clients will be too.”
