Meet Primo Tamasese.

He is 18-years old from Ululoloa and Siusega.

He works for  Samoa’s Red Cross Society.

“I love helping people in every way, that’s why I work for Red Cross,” he told Village Voice

Primo is from a family of six. He is a former student of St. Joseph’s College before he quit school to find a job to help his family.

His family includes his grandparents. It’s a big family but Primo said they manage.

“Caring for a big family takes a lot of responsibility. That’s why I work hard. I feel like this is one way I can contribute.”

But it’s not just him who works.

“My parents provide for all of us. They make sure that we have food every day.”

An alternative source of income is their plantation and vegetable garden.

“We sell it to get more money, not only for our family needs, but family faalavelave and church and village obligations.”

As for the future, Primo wants to return to formal studies.
