Do you support the church’s decision?

The father of a woman who claims to be carrying the marks of Jesus Christ’s suffering has been stripped of his roles by the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa (C.C.C.S). Reverend Opapo So’ana’i, who currently looks after the Siufaga C.C.C.S parish, confirmed the decision during an interview with the Sunday Samoan. What do you think about the decision? Misiona Simo asked in today’s Street Talk and this is what people said:

I think the decision is appropriate. I mean we all go to different congregations and within those congregations they have different rules and regulations. For example, the Catholic focus on Mary and they pray to her as well but C.C.C.S we don’t pray to Mary, we pray to God. So even though we are serving one God but each denomination has different guidelines and I know Rev. Opapo knows that when he decided to go to C.C.C.S. We cannot serve two masters, in this case that means he cannot follow the guidelines and be a minister of L.M.S and have statues of Mary which is Catholic in the church.

I believe that when it comes to things about God we must be very careful. I don’t believe the decision because first and foremost this girl believes that these are the messages from God so I really think they (Elders) should take this into consideration. Forget about the different denominations and different guidelines because we serve one God and that’s all it matters.

I believe the Elders have rejected God, because they are the elders of the church and they should know better. This girl claims to be carrying the marks of Jesus and she also said that God has spoken to her and many of the things that happened before she spoke about it. Whether they believe it or not we should not be the ones to judge because that is God’s job. He is the only person who can judge but as for us we are only followers of Jesus and as followers we ought to believe. In the bible it says that God’s message will come through the weakest people that we never thought would be any use to anyone but God will use those people and so even though we have not seen God but we are Christians and we ought to believe. So I trully believe that the decision made by the Elders is just not right.

We all know each denomination has different guidelines, and we the church members of those denominations should abide by those guidelines. Rev. Opapo is the ordained minister of the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa which means he knows the guidelines of the matagaluega. I think the elders have come up with the right decision to let him go and do what needs to be done for his daughter.

I don’t support this decision. They shouldn’t base their decision on the guidelines of their congregation but they should be careful because this girl says that this is from God. We need to be sure she is right first because we might be hindering the move of God.
