The Eels rugby team yesterday received a much-needed boost ahead of the all-important semifinal of the Super Nine competition at Apia Park today.

To break from their grueling training routine, the team received an invitation to tour the Samoa Beverage Factory.

But that wasn’t all.

Taula Breweries presented $18,000 to the team.

A member of the Taula Samoa team, Luatua Leite Setefano, welcomed the team before giving them a tour of the premises.

The Eels franchise Rugby team is sponsored by Taula Samoa. The visit was also part of an ongoing partnership between the company and the franchise.

Taula's Commercial Manager, Mike Mahendra Mahimkar, said it was wonderful to have the team yesterday.

“We wanted the boys to see the hard work that goes into making this a world class product,” he said.

“We wanted them to can get the inspiration from us in terms of the amount of investment that goes into the making the beer and the products here a success.”

Mr. Mahimkar said they are proud to sponsor the Eels.

“Rugby is not just about contact and knocking people around,” he said.

“It’s about the heart, your passion about the game and that’s why we wanted them to see the passion we put up in building our product into our work and that why it’s a very fruitful partnership for us and the team.”

Vice President of Eels franchise, Fata Pito Malifa, thanked Taula Samoa on the behalf of the team and the management.

After nine rounds of the tournament, the Eels are undefeated.

They will be playing the Legends in one of the semifinal clashes today at Apia Park.

“The Taula and the management wish the Eels all the best for their semifinal.”
