Samoa’s Women’s Cricket Team ready for the International Cricket Council (ICC) East Asia Pacific

Samoa will compete in the International Cricket Council (ICC) and East Asia Pacific (EAP) Women’s trophy that will be held in Japan from the 26th April to the 5th May 2017.

This tournament is also a World Cup qualifier round for a team from East Asia Pacific (EAP) to compete in the Women’s T20World Cup competition that will be held at the end of this year.

The four teams competing are Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Japan and Samoa.

Papua New Guinea is favoured to win the competition with Samoa not to be underestimated because they once shock the region by winning gold in the Pacific Games in 2015.

Team Samoa Coach, Mr Garry Wood said that the team is preparing well for this competition and we have a very good chance of winning the championship.

Regina Monika Lili’i captain, Lelia Bourne vice-captain, Feala Pula and Maria Satoa Tato are the Auckland based players while Lagi Otila Tele’a, Taofi Lafai, Via Meritiana Andrew, Eleni Vaaetasi, Matile Matauaofaamanuiga Uliao, Faamita’i Ngaire Anitoni, Filimaua Malotuto’atasi, Doris Kalifa, Papalagi Amosa and Kolotita Makerita Lui Nonu are the locally based players.

The team manager is Ms Perelini Mulitalo.
