SPECIAL WEATHER BULLETIN NUMBER EIGHT (8) FOR SAMOA
ISSUED BY SAMOA METEOROLOGICAL SERVICES AT 230000 UTC OR 01.00 PM 
SATURDAY 23rd APRIL 2016

 TROPICAL CYCLONE WARNING CATEGORY 2 (55-72 mph) IS IN EFFECT FOR SAMOA.

TROPICAL CYCLONE CATEGORY 3 WILL BE EFFECTIVE WITHIN THE NEXT 12-24 HOUR.

HEAVY RAIN WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR SAMOA; FLOODING IS POSSIBLE FOR VULNERABLE AREAS.    

FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FOR LOW-LYING COASTAL AREAS DUE TO HIGH SURF.

Tropical Cyclone Amos Category Three (3) was located at 12.36 South, 175.36 West or at about 322km  Northwest of Asau or 420 km Northwest of Apia at 222100 UTC or 10:00a.m today.  

TC Amos continues to move slowly eastward towards Samoa and intensify gradually. Based on its current forecast track, TC Amos is expected to relocate at about 223 km Northwest of Asau or 321 km Northwest of Apia by 7.00 pm in the evening.

Today:
Periods of occasional rain, heavy at some areas with thunderstorms.
Northeast to north winds of 40-50 mph gusts up to 60mph over western open waters of Samoa. Overland winds of 30-35 mhp gusts up to 55 mph times. Seas rough to very rough. Combine waves and swells of 10-15 feet and developing.

Sunday:
Periods of rain, heavy at times and thunderstorms
Expect Northeast to Northwest winds of 45-55 mph and possibly increase up to 72 mph at times. Storm surge of 14-16 feet and developing to 15-18 feet.

Seas very rough and storm surge of 18-20 feet affect open seas.

Potential Impact – River overflows, Slippery road, Poor Visibility, flooding, landslide and flying objects.
