It was like a funeral

Dear Editor,

The Samoa Tourism Excellence Awards Night was  more like a funeral. I’m sorry to say but that was the truth. Malo lava to all Sponsors and the Finalists.

Samoa Tourism Authority, how could you try to mirror the Grammy awards when you can’t even host it well?

The MC was ok, but he could’ve spoken up and be very live.

It was so dead. When the sponsors walked up, you were supposed to make it live and have everyone clap. When the sponsors say things to congratulate you and the finalists, you were supposed to have everyone clap and cheer.

What surprised me on TV was when one of the sponsors mentioned their commitment for the next awards; they were just sitting there and stared.

S.T.A. staff and their C.E.O. who was just sitting from the back being a very high class and not even walking over to say hi to the people and sponsors.

Wait a minute, only talking to the high-class people too, you should have instigated everything. You should’ve been the ones to cheer and clapped and make some noise for the audience to follow.

The sound system was so low and very bad. When the speaker announced the finalists, the drums should have been heard from outside with the names of the finalists (make the finalists feel special about being a finalist, a nominee... Maybe consider a live band on your next awards instead of the recordings.)

As for entertainment, one performance by one person should be enough. Twice or three time is an eye sore. It was like someone was dying.

Looking forward to a better Awards evening if there is going to be another one.
