The women of Afega marked the end of yet another successful year during a celebration at Afega last Saturday.

The day was full of laughter, singing and dancing as the women took time out to reflect, acknowledge the work done throughout the year and welcome the Christmas season.

The occasion is an annual event for the women of the village. Iupita Fata Eteuati, a representative of the Women’s Committee, said the one-day celebration is something the women look forward to throughout the year.

“It is an opportunity to fellowship and enjoy a break from our usual chores,” she said. 

“It has been a challenging year but we are grateful that we are able to celebrate today.”

She acknowledged and thanked the President of the Women’s Committee, Muliaga Jean Malifa, for all her hard work in developing the women of the village. The formalities culminated with a gathering at Kokobanana Restaurant where the women celebrated their successes in 2015 with fine food and dancing.
