A two-day workshop in Apia next month will offer Samoans the opportunity to be trained in securing their corporate networks that are accessed through remote devices.

Leading cybersecurity firm and antivirus provider Kaspersky Lab is providing the training in partnership with Auckland-based IT firm Quantum IT Limited, and local company Computer Services Limited (CSL).

The Kaspersky Lab’s presales technical manager and territory manager, Kirill Vorozhtsov and Graeme McDonald, will run the training from November 6-7 at the Elisa Hotel conference room.

The training will focus on the Kaspersky Lab comprehensive security portfolio, which includes leading endpoint protection and a number of specialised security solutions and services to fight sophisticated and evolving digital and online threats. Over 400 million users are protected by Kaspersky Lab technologies and they currently help 270,000 corporate clients protect what matters most to them.

Kaspersky Lab, through the availability of a computer-based security awareness training platform to enhance the overall security of businesses, will provide the training to all participants. The training will see essential knowledge to recognise and avoid cyber threats being taught, as part of the training that will be provided.

According to the organisers of the training, implementing a proactive security awareness training program will protect organisations from cybersecurity threats to their organization, such as the most severe threats targeted attacks and ransom ware infection which are often caused by staff error.

When security awareness training are designed and implemented properly, it decreases the load on its personnel and makes employees more mindful about protecting corporate data, reducing losses related to security incidents. They also take into account different expectations of personnel depending on their management level.

As a result, Kaspersky Lab offers training programs on an ongoing basis with the latest gamification technologies that produce real, measurable results in terms of maintaining corporate security.Research shows that computer based interactive training leads to as much as 93 per cent probability of using the knowledge in day-to-day work and a decrease in the number of incidents by up to 90 per cent.

This type of training is vital in helping the businesses and their employees to maintain awareness and lower their exposure to risk. Security training is an important expansion of Kaspersky Lab range of security intelligence services, which also include intelligence sharing offers for it security experts, incident response and more.

Quantum IT Limited managing director, Ivan Rasquinha, said their decade-old partnership with Kaspersky Lab and CSL Samoa is a critical milestone for everyone involved in the project.

“For many years, Kaspersky Lab, has focused on research and development rather than mass marketing and now independent tests have proven it has the fastest response time to new threats as well as the most frequent signature updates. Intelligent use of system resources means Kaspersky Lab reaches the deepest scanning levels without the slow-down in computer operation found in competing products,” he added.
