The Samoa Police Service (SPS) has welcomed back 10 of its members who completed a one-year Tour of Duty in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Africa.

Police Commissioner, Fuiavailiili Egon Keil commended the officers for upholding the good reputation of the Samoa Police and Samoa in the United Nations.

“These officers worked in a number of areas within the United Nations and they brought back to Samoa their experiences that are essential in the development of the Samoa Police Service.

“The officers will be taking time off to spend time with families before reporting back for duty.

“SPS also acknowledges the support by families and villages towards the returned officers for supporting them whilst they were on the tour of duty,” said Police in a statement on their website.

SPS has been participating in the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions since 2000.
