The Police are continuing to seek the public’s support to locate two notorious criminals who escaped from Tafa’igata Prison on Sunday.

Pati Chong Nee and Aniseko Vaelei are considered dangerous and members of the public have been advised not to approach them.

An official at the Police headquarters told the Samoa Observer yesterday that the whereabouts of the two men remained a mystery.

“We do have some leads and we are following those leads,” the official, who is not authorized to speak to the media, said.

Chong Nee is a notorious prison escapee. He and Vaelei are serving time at Tafaigata for a history of crimes including burglary, robbery and being armed with a dangerous weapon.

In a statement from the Police, it said they were notified by the Prisons and Correctional Services (SPCS) regarding the prisoners on Sunday morning.

“We ask members of the public to contact the Samoa Police on phone number 22222 or contact any police station near you or the Prisons Authority on phone number 23516 if you have any information of their whereabouts.

“In support of SPCS the Samoa Police Service wishes to thank members of the public for their ongoing assistance.”

Attempts to get a comment from the Prisons and Correctional Services were unsuccessful.
