The Samoa Victim Support Group has received over $2000 worth of Christmas presents for its resident-children.

The donation was made by the local company Samoa Stationery and Books. Funding for the presents were raised at the Carnival Festival, which the stationery company hosted early this month, to coincide with their 10th anniversary celebrations.

The company’s marketing manager, Asomua Anastasia Stanley, told Samoa Observer that the December 8 carnival was organised by the company founder, Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai, with the support of the Samoa Faafafine Association (SFA).

“We had the carnival festival on the 8th December, where the children of Samoa were all welcomed to attend. And with all the money that we were able to gather from that festival — which was about $2500 — are now used to buy Christmas presents for our children here in the Samoa Victim Support.

“We are happy that we are able to get the chance to be here, seeing all these children with big smiles on their faces just brings joy in our hearts.

“And all the performances they prepared for this special day was just so amazing. We are thankful that the Lord had given us the opportunity to be here to share laughter and love with the SVSG staff and all the beautiful souls who are here.

“We also appreciate the help of Lina and the staff of the SVSG on the young souls who are now family to them. We pray and hope the Lord will continue to bless this society as they are playing an important role such as taking care of our loves ones who had been victimised,” she said, in an interview with Samoa Observer.

The December 8 carnival hosted by the stationery company and its partners coincided with the Miss Samoa Faafafine Association 2018-2019.

SVSG president Siliniu Lina Chang was emotional yesterday when she spoke on behalf of SVSG staff and all the children.

“This is not the first time SSAB donated gifts to the SVSG and I am so thankful to Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai and the company SSAB and also the Miss SFA for all the love that they have shown to us.

We are blessed with everything that we have received today. The children are so happy that they have free Christmas presents,” she said.

The SVSG prepared special items as a token of appreciation to Tofilau, her staff and the Samoa Faafafine Association for the gesture.
