Post-election assessment rounded off the final day of the Commonwealth Election Professionals (C.E.P) Pacific region workshop yesterday.

Participants heard from electoral officers from Australia, Nauru and Vanuatu.

As part of election observation, participants also visited the National University of Samoa (N.U.S) where student body elections were being held under the guidance of officials from the Office of the Electoral Commissioner.

“This has been a valuable experience for all of us that have been involved with this, not just for the participants but for us from the Commonwealth Secretariat as well,” said Leuluaiali’i Albert Mariner, Head of the Caribbean and Pacific Section, Commonwealth Secretariat.

“We look forward to the various ways in which the lessons learnt from this Initiative will be applied in various Election Management Bodies across the region”.

Topics addressed at the workshop include: Independence of Election Management Bodies, Civic and Voter Education, Gender, Election Observation and Post-election assessment.
