Men in Court for stealing

Three men accused of stealing from the Auto Spare Parts at Matautu appeared before Supreme Court Justice, Niava Mata Tuatagaloa on Monday afternoon.

They are Eti Alapae, Mamoe Peleti and Manila Tapeni.

However, Justice Tuatagaloa dismissed all charges against Peleti and Tapeni.

“The charges of burglary and theft against you two are withdrawn and dismissed, therefore you may leave the courtroom,” she said.

“As for you Eti Alapae, the charges of burglary, theft and intentional damage has been proven,” she told the defendant.

“This matter is adjourned to 6th July for sentencing.

“I would need a report from the owner of the place that was burgled but as for you, you will remain in custody until the 6th July.

Alapae of Apia, Leone and Vaimoso, is charged with one count of theft, one count of burglary and one count of intentional damage.

According to the Police summary of facts, he is accused of illegally entering the Auto Spare Parts building at Matautu-uta. 

While inside the building, he stole $30, 160, US$4,560 (T$11,686.85), NZ$200 (T$360.80), $2,031.80 CNY (T$813.70), phone cards Digicel and Bluesky $1,500, N.Z. passport $350 and an iron box that is used to store money which cost $1,500.

The total cost of the stolen items came up to $46,371.30 belongings of Crystal Chang, a female of Matautu and Alafua.
