A tennis tournament sponsored by Business Systems Limited is underway. The inter-school competition is the result of a school tennis programme sponsored by Australian Tennis and Oceania programme called A.O.P.P.

Australian Open Pacific Pathway is contributing equipment for training at the schools around Samoa.

Business Systems Limited has proudly been the local major sponsor for the last three years.

Raymond Schuster, President of Tennis Samoa, said the tournament is an important event.

“The importance of the participation of these tennis school players in the competition is vital in Samoa’s preparation for the East Pacific Regional Championships,” he said.

“It helps to improve our athletes competitiveness and level of play. In doing that, it helps Samoa’s membership and credibility with I.T.F. International Tennis Federation and keeps I.T.F’s/A.O.P.P’s support for the development of Tennis in Samoa.”

The schools taking part are Vaiala Beach School, Peace Chapel School, All Saints Anglican School, Robert Louis Stevenson School, Ah Mu Academy School and Samoa Primary School.

These schools have been undergoing school competition at their own schools to select their teams for this year competition.

Tagaloa Yvonne Carruthers, Tennis Samoa  Junior Chairperson & School Tennis Coordinator commented: “We have seen how valuable B.S.L. sponsorship that it had contributed to not only the increasing numbers of participants but the growth of relationships between these schools, proficient skilled players produced and a consistent interest of teachers, parents, local tennis coaches to groom these young players for the future and great champions to represent our Nation and as well as give B.S.L. good value of their support.”
