PR - Netball Samoa recently completed trials for our local based players for the National Netball Training Squad last week.

Thirty two trialists registered and underwent a series of fitness tests and then finished off with trial games.  Head Coach – Frances Solia attended and was impressed with what she saw of the netball skills.

Solia commented: “There is definitely a strong cohort of potential local players ready for the challenge of the 2019 Pacific Games.

However the following programs for fitness, strength and conditioning, perfecting the netball basics needs to be implemented immediately to enable the player to engage and take on board the next level of training.  Samoa is preparing for the qualifiers for the 2019 World Netball Cup held in Liverpool, England early next year.

Running parallel with the several development programs, Netball Samoa has started on workshops for our technical officials.

To date Netball Samoa has attracted new trainees for umpiring and bench officials.  Sporting bodies have been encouraged by the Pacific Games Council delegation recently in Samoa to look at opportunities of up skilling our people for technical official duties – a much cheaper option than bringing them in from overseas.

Preparatory work by the Netball Samoa Executive Committee and friends of netball is in progress to assist the responsible authorities on the renovations of the Netball Stadium.

CEO Netball Samoa, Rosemarie Esera said that it is very important that we provide all the technical specifications to ensure that our stadium is of international standards therefore opening the door for other international competitions – legacy of the 2019 Games for Netball.
