Police captured street gang youths

Three youths involved in a youth street gang robbing members of the public and threatening their safety have been captured by police. 

The accused are being charged with one count of robbery with the maximum penalty not exceeding 10 years imprisonment. 

The accused are between the ages of 19 and 20 years and are still under police custody until they appear in court on June 28, 2016. 

According to the media officer of the Ministry of Police, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona the accused were arrested around 3:30am last Saturday June 11. 

He said the accused robbed a 21 year old male early Saturday morning in town and the victim reported the matter to police.  The accused were arrested and charged that same morning. 

Maotaoalii said the Ministry continues to work together with the public in capturing these youths who are a threat to the general public.
