The Coin Save building at Fugalei, their newest branch, was destroyed by fire yesterday morning. No one was injured.

This was confirmed by the Commander of Operations of the Fire and Emergency Services Authority, Fuafiva Aleaga, yesterday.

“Fire fighters were called to the scene at around 5am,” he said.

“It’s not known how the fire started but we’re still trying to view cameras to see what exactly happened."

“We are now working to investigate how it happened.”

A taxi driver, Talia Va’aelua told the Sunday Samoan that the fire started on the first floor of the two-storey building.

“I saw the fire when I came this morning to drop my passenger off at the Fish Market,” Talia said.

“When we passed by, I saw the building was on fire while fire fighters was trying to help the situation."

“It was quickly extinguished and thank God, no one was injured and only few goods were destroyed.”

It was not possible to get a comment from the business owner yesterday.

Coin Save is owned by Tuituioaiga Teeking Weng, who was recently awarded the contract to run the Vaitele market.
