Three Restaurants and Bars in Apia have upped their game during the festive period to ensure patrons have a good time in a secured environment.

A spike at this time of the year in alcohol-related incidents has also compelled the clubs to take action for the sake of their customers.

Managers from the Millenia Hotel, Cocktails on the Rock and Rendezvous Restaurant told the Samoa Observer that they are each taking precautions to guarantee the safety of their patrons.

Rosaline Ah Him Peters, a manager at the Millenia Hotel, said Christmas is a peak period for the hotel and they have their guests’ welfare at heart.

The hotel is also cracking down on underage drinking, according to Mrs. Peters.

“We have a strict policy for underage drinking.  We ask for a show of ID to prove that the customer is eligible to drink. We do not serve alcohol to anyone under the age of 21, as the law states,” she said.

Cocktails on the Rocks manager Kovati I’u and Rendezvous owner Tala Suisala echoed similar sentiments, and added that they continue to promote the “if you drink don’t drive” slogan amongst their patrons.

“For our customers who have reached their intake of alcohol, we do not serve them anymore alcohol, instead we serve them water.

“And to ensure the safety of the customer and others on the road, we call a taxi to take them home and have their cars safely parked in our parking spots for them to pick up later,” Tala added.

The three night clubs’ managers and owner reiterated that the safety of their patrons is a priority and they continue to remind their customers to be considerate for others.

The three night clubs’ undertaking and assurance comes on the back of recent warnings from Samoa’s Liquor Board that clubs that do not promote and provide a secure environment for patrons will lose their licenses.
