Staying home to tend to his family was not a hard choice for 17-year-old Leuea Senio of Samusu-uta.

But the young man is finding out that without water, life can be pretty difficult.

A school drop out, Mr. Senio said life is normally not that bad but going without a steady supply of water for several days is hard.

Mr Senio was spotted under a cocoa tree on the side of the road with water buckets.

When Village Voice approached Mr Senio yesterday, he said he was fetching water with his younger sister from a water pipe.

Senio smiled as he said this is the reality of life they are living in, in their village.

“This is what we do every morning, I come here to see if the water is on, then I go back home to get the buckets,” said Senio.

“We are lucky when we get some water.”

Some families use their wheelbarrows but Senio’s family doesn’t have one.

“We don’t have a wheel barrow to carry water all the way from that place to our house, but I have to carry two buckets of water over my shoulder.”

“Two rounds, is enough for me, because it’s heavy,” he added.

“But I have no choice everything depends on water.”

Senio’s sister A’a was filling up the water buckets while her brother carries them home.
