Re: Virgin Samoa 

The more competition the better. I am rather surprised about the tone of Stui’s response to the Virgin Australia’s intentions. Being a smart economist that he is, he should welcome Virgin’s actions as bringing more competition to the Samoan aviation market. 

Greater market competition is an often quoted mantra of Stui’s and this instance should not be any different to other market competitions he has mentioned in the past, for example competition between shops for the retail dollar. 

Greater competition also should result in lower fares for the travelling public. Lower fares can translate to higher tourist numbers for Samoa, and the benefits they bring to our local economy.

I am confident that the local aviation market is big and mature enough to accommodate a revitalised Poly, Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand.

More players in the market will show how wonderful the new Poly will be. Bring it on.
