Vaiala survives Apia scare
Taula Apia Rugby Union’s shield match yesterday was a game on a knife’s edge after the final whistle blew at the Apia Park Stadium.
Apia Maroon nearly caused an upset against Taula Apia Rugby Union’s Shield title holder B.B.E. Vaiala in a thrilling match ending 23 all at fulltime.
B.B.E. Vaiala has defended the title for three weeks in a row.
Yesterday, Apia Maroon led going to the break 18-17.
The Maroons scored only one try in the second half from their hooker, Leo Brown on the 72nd minute of the game with an unsuccessful conversion.
B.B.E. Vaiala second half points all came from the boot of their first five, Patrick Fa’apale, nailing two penalties.
Other entertaining clashes yesterday at the Taula Apia Rugby Union competition saw S.C.O.P.A. defeating Moamoa 22-14, with Vailele nailing Fagali’i 48-15 at fulltime.
Lupe o le Soaga team defeated Alamagoto 47-12, while Marist Saint Joseph’s smashing Letogo 71-0, and Taumeasina Moata’a winning their contest against H.J.Keil Vaimoso 30-24 at fulltime.
