The Public Service Commission has invited applications for the positions of Deputy Director General for the Ministry of Health, but not the Director General.

Leausa Dr. Take Naseri has been appointed as the Acting Director General to see through the merge of the Ministry of Health and the National Health Services.

This was confirmed by the Minister of Health, Tuitama Dr. Leao Tuitama.

“Leausa has been tasked to see through the merge and we will advertise the Director General position soon,” he said.

“Leausa has taken over until such a time when his position is up for advertisement and anyone who is eligible can apply.”

Under the merge bill the PSC has taken over Human Resources matters and they are in charge of the hiring process.

The Chairman of the P.S.C. Aiono Mose Sua told the Samoa Observer the delay in advertising of the Director General position is due to the fact they are gathering the information on the scope of work and the description of the position.

“We have already done that with the Deputy Director General, hence advertising the positions this week,” said Aiono.

According to the PSC special advertisement, two Deputy Director General positions up for grabs.

There is the Deputy Director General for Public Health Services and the Deputy Director General for Hospital and Clinical Services.

The starting rate is $96,445 per annum and deadline is 13 March, 2019.
