The General Manager of Federal Pacific Insurance Ltd and the President of the Samoa Rugby Union, Namulauulu Leota Sami Leota, has been bestowed the Papali’i title of Sapapali’i.

He was among 18 members of the Malietoa Gatuitasina family bestowed with the Papali’i and Taimalelagi titles at the beginning of the month.

The title bestowment ceremony started with a blessing service of the new chiefs.

Papali’i Sami, from Fogapoa Savai’i, said he is honoured.

“It is an honour and a privilege to be bestowed the Papali’i title,” he said.

“I want to acknowledge and thank the elders of my family for this great honour. I’m looking forward to continue my service to my family at Sapapali’i under the Papali’i title.”

Another Papali’i title was bestowed upon Efo Tuua Lemana, who is a Police Inspector.

“This is one way to honour our parents to be able to carry on the legacy left behind by my father, and that is through service for my family.”

Daughter of Tualagi Moalele and Taimalelagi Peika Moalele Uipo Tuiletufuga Liuomavaega, Inspector Lemana is from Sapapali’i, Apia and Siumu.

“This is for my father,” she said. “His motto in life is serving. He served in the Police Service for 37 years before retiring; but he never retired from serving his family in Sapapali’i and Apia.

“He lived to serve the family, the church and the country and I want to be half the person he was.”

A Senior Journalist with radio 2AP, Tutuila Farao was bestowed the title Taimalelagi. For this new Chief, it was a double celebration.

“I celebrated my birthday on the same day of the ceremony and I couldn’t be more happier to be able to serve in my family,” said Taimalelagi Tutuila.
