Selesele and the Samoa Sevens

Internationally renowned Samoan Sevens player, Faalemiga Selesele lead the men in blue to victory in the HSBC World Series leg in Paris last year.

However, his absence for the team roster this year has left quite an impact on the pitch.

As the Samoa Sevens return from a dismal campaign in Cape Town , many are questioning, Where is Faalemiga Selesele?

The former Moata’a player who recently has been nominated for Senior Sportsman of the Year explained why he was ruled out for the Sevens team.

Currently, Selesele is under contract with Hawkes Bay in New Zealand and therefore ineligible to play for the National Samoa Sevens team.

His absence has left big shoes to fill for current Capitan Tila Mealoi. When asked about his thoughts on the current teams performance , he stated, “ we need to help the boys.”

However, there is a loophole.

Despite being ineligible to play for the Manu Samoa Seven’s team he is eligible to play for the National 10’s team that will be participating in the Brisbane Global Ten’s next year.

Selesele was named in the 35 man training squad announced earlier in the week and is excited as ever to take the field again with is brothers.

It would definitely excite many rugby fans to see Selesele back in blue.
