All views matter, says farmer

All different perspectives about life in Samoa matter.

So says Iosefa Toni, from the village of Savaia Lefaga, who believes, when it comes to improving the quality of life in Samoa, all different views make Samoa a more exciting society.

The farmer says people should remember that they design their own futures.

Aged 53, Iosefa works hard in his plantation to provide for his family.

This is his choice since he is a father of four kids.

“People have different views on things,” he told the Village Voice.

“I know people choose different ways to try and make it through life and with the way I see it, plantation is always been the choice.

“We all should know why. Working in the plantation is working under your own command and you are your own boss. Not only that we get to hold money every day as well.

“Some say that life in Samoa is great while some say otherwise. But to me personally, the way life is for someone is up to them and no one else.

“If you’re lazy and inactive, then that’s the way it will be for you.”

Iosefa says that many in Samoa struggle to take care of their lives and that is normal everywhere.

“Everyone needs help, it’s not just water and electricity that people are eager to have. Some families have it all but there is always something missing in their families.

“Ask ourselves that. But life itself is simple; all you need is hard work and patience.

“I know for a fact that many people struggle when it comes to taking care of their own family.

“But if you find yourself in that situation then the best things to do is to continue to work hard and do your best in whatever task you are given.

In comparison to the past, Iosefa says Samoa has come very far and it’s been great for a developing country like us.

“But no matter what goes on in Samoa, the only thing I like to really focus on is my work here in my plantation and how I take care of my family.

“This plantation is the only way my family earns money for every day needs and wants.”
