Fijian club Tabadamu have cruised to the semifinals of the Marist International Sevens Tournament with a 39-0 win over the darlings of Day One, Lefaga.

The four time defending Fiji Marist Sevens champions were too much for the boys from kua, and look like favourites to take out the title.

Lefaga assistant coach Kitiona Foe said they were staying positive for the rest of the day, with a chance to win the Plate competition still.

He said playing against opposition with the quality of Tabadamu was a great learning experience.

Tabadamu’s semifinal will be against Apia Maroons, who came out 12-10 winners over Satalo in what was the game of the tournament so far.

Satalo lead 5-0 at halftime, and again by 10-7 with the end of the game approaching.

They got the ball back while hot on defence in the final seconds and opted to kick, so Apia were able to score with the last play of the game.

Apia coach Shalom Senara said they were fortunate to Satalo chose to kick.

He said it could’ve gone the other way, so he was happy his side ended strongly.

“They’re a brilliant team as well, we’ve got a lot of respect for them.”

He said the next game against Tabadamu will be massive.

“If we hold that ball we can win.”

Tama Uli Salelologa defeated Vaiala 14-7, continuing their historic run at the tournament; no Savaii team has made it this far before.

Vaiala were without playmaker Alatasi Tupou, after his injury suffered against Moata’a on Day One.

Tepatasi were too strong for Vailele in the last quarterfinal, defeating them 28-7.

They’ve been strong throughout the tournament, and enter their semifinal with Tama Uli this afternoon with a genuine chance.

In the women’s division, Auckland Samoa defeated Aana 33-0, earning them a semifinal with Christchurch this afternoon.

The winner of that game will take on Apia in the final of the Glen Feaunati Cup, with the Maroons beating Taga Blowholes 14-0 in the other semifinal.
