People find motivation in different places.

For Sialofi Mamea, from Nu’u and Tufuiopa, he didn’t have to look far.

He said his family was his biggest motivation when he was studying towards a Bachelor of Arts at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji. Mr. Mamea was among the graduates who celebrated sweet success last week.

“Helping my family was my number one reason I tried to finish my study,” he said.

“I wanted to finish it so I can come back and look for work so that not only will I be able to serve my country and government but also secure a better future for myself and family.”

Mr. Mamea studied in Fiji for three and a half years. His scholarship was funded by the Australian government.

On graduation day, he said the biggest blessing was seeing his parents, Tovale Sialofi Mamea and Mele Mamea, happy. He dedicated his success to his parents.

Mr. Mamea’s father had suffered a stroke and he said it was tough for him to be away from home.

His proud mother was an elated woman.

“I happened to be the happiest mother on earth for my son has returned home with the greatest gift he could ever give,” she said.

“And with that, I praise the God almighty for his endless love for my son and our family.”

She also thanked the people who helped her family.

“I want to thank my sisters Tonu’u Fuamoli Amituanai Misi and Tepora Ta’ala Fuimaono for the support and for encouraging my children in doing good things.

“Also to my mother Tusipepa Maiava Solomona for uplifting my son to God’s arms when he was abroad. And to all my extended families and friends who prayed and supported my son’s journey while he was in Fiji.”

For Mr. Mamea, coming back is another step of his journey.

He is currently working for the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture.
