Meet Fiapa’ipai Leiataua from Lepuia’i, Manono.

Fiapa’ipa’i believes in the power of being a role model for her children.

The Village Voice team met her while attending one of her village’s events yesterday.

“Leading by example to my children and teaching them every day is what I do,” she said.

“Honestly, I love doing it because this determines the future of my children.”

“Sometimes, I know they are sick and tired of me scolding them all the time, but behind a good family lies a woman that never shuts her mouth on teaching her children.”

“For my children, they deserve a better future.”

“Personally, this is what every parent is looking at – their children to be succeed.”

She added parents must spend most of their times with their children.

“I think that’s why we have so much happening today, like incest cases, rape and the list goes on,” Fiapa’ipa’i said.

She believes every child needs someone to look up to and learn from.

“As a mother and grandmother, our job is to lead by example in modelling the kind of behaviour that you want your children to adopt,” she said.

“For most children, the most important role models are their parents, who have a regular presence in their lives.”

“Stop spending too much time on unnecessary stuff but the focus should be on our children.”

“If we give them loving words, let them sleep all day long, and relying on others for living, then they’ll grow up using that way of living.”

She added every parent should build a connection with their children.

“Remember whatever we do, we are showing our children an approach to life that includes ongoing growth, learning, improvement and development.”

“Stop acting like there’s nothing happening in their lives, but to teach them the right way to walk in their lives, we parents need to stand for what is right and good for our children.”

She believes we have to learn and enjoy precious moment.

“I mean every minute should be enjoyed and savoured.”

“I do believe that God blessed me in life with a wonderful family especially my children and I remain thankful for that blessing.”
