Not many parents would continue to work one their children are employed.

Well this is different for Kolio Nu’uali’itia from Apolima who enjoys what he does.

At the age of 45, he is still working to provide for his family, despite two of his sons employed.

Kolio Nu’uali’itia works at the Craig Construction as a truck driver and he has been working there for a very long time.

“I just finished work and I am waiting for the bus to go home,” said the Apolima resident to the Village Voice team yesterday.

Kolio Nu’uali’itia is a father of four and his children still live with him and his wife.

“My two children who completed their studies from the National University of Samoa are both working together with me providing for our family.”

Two of his children are still in high school.

“My two eldest children told me to stop work immediately but I told them I enjoy working because it helps our family with money and also for me to get out and exercise considering the age I am in right now.”

“I also told them that it is good for us all to work because we have to earn more money not only for our family but for school fees of the younger children who are still in school.”

Kolio Nu’uali’itia said he was thankful his children were contributing especially because of the White Sunday holiday.

“I am thankful for them and their contribution to our family, it means a lot, like this short week and the money I got for my pay was not really enough, but luckily they are helping out with their pay.”
