The Manu Samoa Sevens has perhaps had its worst performance at the Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast, losing both of its opening games in embarrassing fashion yesterday.

At the Ribina Stadium, Samoa went down to hosts Australia, 24-7 before they were hammered by England, 33-0, in their second game.

Samoa scored the first try against Australia through Neria Foma’i but it proved to be their only try for two games.

The men in blue were scoreless during their second game against the strong England team.

Their last game against Jamaica, one they should win, was played last night.

The result was not available at press time.

Prior to kick off, Coach Sir Gordon Tietjens made two last minute changes.

Paul Perez replaced his brother, Joe Perez while Tofatuimoana Solia replaced Silao Nonu.

Samoa was captained by Alatasi Tupou, working from inside the halves, together with Murphy Paulo and Tila Mealoi.

Manu Samoa claimed the fourth place in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. They won the plate division in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, India.
