New airlines please

We really need another airline that is not affiliated to an existing one which is also flying in and out of Samoa. In other words, competition please, not a cosy relationship where you both maintain the status quo at the expense of the trapped customers

Here’s one example of the expense. These are the horrendous airfares which you are forced to pay if you are travelling at the ‘wrong’ time of the month.

Take this month for exemple.

It can be 1,800 tala for a one way fare (yes one way!) on Air NZ as opposed to a third of that cost – 600 tala just a week later.

Why you may be asking?

Good question.

Particularly when you can pay a similar sum to that first fare and find you can fly all the way to Europe!

However fly from Auckland to Apia in early March and you can get a one way ticket for just NZ $119 (213.55 tala) or a return ticket for NZ$282 (506 tala).

Also try checking out the profit margin of Air NZ at the end of the financial year.

Fascinating reading.
