The Oceania Cruise ship docked at Matautu wharf yesterday morning bringing in over 1,000 passengers and more than 100 crew.

There were many different nationalities represented among the passengers, although most of them were mainly from the United States, Canada and Australia.

Many of them were welcomed at the Samoa Tourism Cultural village so that they could get a sense of the culture and a taste of a Samoan ‘umu’.

“This is my first time here in Samoa and it’s really great,” one passenger said.

“I’m with my sister, and it’s something that we were both looking forward to, to come and visit different islands in the Pacific.

“Samoa is now one of my favorite destinations. I’m hoping to come back again even though the weather is too hot!

The Oceania Cruise ship’s last port of call was American Samoa.

Allyana from the United States was among the passengers. “I’ve heard a lot about Samoa…of how beautiful Samoa is.

“It’s my first time to Samoa and also to American Samoa.

“I am happy that I am here even if it’s just for a while to experience the culture and to see the environment.”
