Family times are quality time

Four generations of the Aiafi family enjoyed a sports day at Fa’atuatua College field yesterday.

Children, teens, adults and some elderly folks gathered for a day of laughter and fun.

Family member and Member of Parliament, Lealailepule Rimoni Aiafi, said the gathering was an awesome opportunity for family members to fellowship.

They had relatives from Australia, New Zealand and the United States who came to Samoa for their mother, Melenaite Aiafi’s 82nd birthday.

“It’s my moms’ 82nd birthday and that is why we are all here. Rarely, maybe a once a year, if we are lucky to get together as a family. So that is why we are trying to make use of all the time we have together before our families disperse.”

A whole week was planned for events such as quiz nights, outings, dinners and yesterday was their sports day.

“Today is just a sports day for the children with our cousins, brothers and sisters who are joining us. We are just so glad to have families here, fellowshipping and enjoying each-other’s company,” he added.

A Sunday feast is being planned today at their home in Alafua

“The main purpose of this whole week is to bond, and having fun spending quality time with one another. Valuing this moment is very important.”
