The newly formed Samoa Triathlon Federation (S.T.F) has embraced the spirit of New Year’s resolutions by announcing a partnership with Digicel Samoa to promote a more active, healthy and happier lifestyle through the Digicel Extraordinary Run Series.

This is a calendar of exciting events which the S.T.F hopes will encourage hundreds of Samoans, both young and old, to participate.

President of the S.T.F, Nicola Mills said newcomers are welcome.

“The first run of the series will be held at Mulinu’u, Apia on Saturday 30th January 2016,” she said. “It is a 5 km distance for adults and a 3 km distance for juniors.  We have designed the first run to encourage all ages and abilities to take part.  In particular we welcome newcomers to running.”

S.T.F’s plan is to introduce triathlons to people that haven’t considered it before, said Ms. Mills.

“So whether you are competing and challenging yourself, or your team mates, all are very welcome on the day. It will be a fun morning with a lively atmosphere, with breakfast and a prize giving ceremony for all participants.”

Digicel Samoa are proud sponsors of the Samoa Triathlon Federation’s 5 km race series and triathlon series for 2016.

All races have prizes for different categories of winners and best effort.

“Digicel has always been a supporter of grass roots initiatives that promote healthy and active lifestyles for the people of Samoa,” said Digicel Samoa C.E.O, Rory Condon.

“Triathlon has become a fast growing popular sporting event across the world, as it is a fun way to exercise and keep healthy.”

Entry costs just $5 tala for adults and $3 tala for juniors.

Registration opens at 6.30am with the juniors race starting at 7.45 am followed by adults at 8.00am.
