Cabinet releases programme for Tuiloma’s state funeral

Cabinet has released the official programme for the state funeral of Member of the Council of Deputies, Tuiloma Pule Lameko, for tomorrow.

Having declared a national holiday and all flags flown at half mast to honour the long serving former Parliamentarian, the nation will come to a stand still tomorrow when the population bid farewell to one of their longest serving leaders.

The official programme starts when Tuiloma’s body arrives at Parliament’s makeshift complex at Tuanaimato.

 

Programme for the State Funeral Service: The Late Honourable Tuiloma Lameko Gae’e: 

Friday 13th April 2018

 

8.15am: Funeral procession to be escorted by Police from Pa’u Sefo Pa’u’s funeral parlor at Moto’otua to the Parliament house at Tuanaimato.

The Honourable Member of the Council of Deputies, Honourable Prime Minister and Cabinet Ministers, His Honour the Chief Justice and the Honourable Speaker of the House in their vehicles will join the funeral procession.

8.50am: Arrive at the Parliament house.

Police pallbearers carry and position Tuiloma’s casket in the Parliament House to lie in State. 

Police Sentries positioned alongside the casket. 

9.00am: Pay respects according to the following order.

  1. His Highness the Head of State and Masiofo 
  2. The Honourable Member of the Council of Deputies
  3. The Honourable Prime Minister and Honourable Ministers of Cabinet
  4. His Honour the Chief Justice 
  5. The Honourable Speaker of the House
  6. Members of Parliament
  7. Church leaders
  8. Members of the Diplomatic Corps
  9. Government Ministries and Corporations and the Private Sector
  10. Members of the Community
  11. Families and Friends

Note: Refreshments will be served at the tent behind the Parliament house for dignitaries and guests from 9.00am to 10.30am.

10.40am: Guests seated for the State Funeral Service in the Parliament House – Tuanaimato.

10.50am: Hon Member of the Council of Deputies arrives.

Hon Prime Minister and Hon Cabinet Ministers arrive.

His Honour the Chief Justice arrives.

Hon Speaker of the House arrives.

10.55am: His Highness the Head of State arrives

11.00am: State Funeral Service commences, led by the Council of Churches in Samoa. 

Followed by the flag folding ceremony to be conducted by Police.

12.00noon: Police escort funeral procession to the burial site – Tuiloma’s residence at Alafua.

12.15pm: Burial ceremony followed by the Police gun salute.

1.00pm: Lunch at Gym 3 (Food Court) Tuanaimato.
