Press Release - Samoa Badminton Federation completed its Juniors Open Tournament for 2018 in a high note.

The Tournament is part of the Badminton Federation Yearly Plan for 2018 for its strategic development programmes of Badminton games in Samoa.

It was open tournament for Junior under the age of 18 and anyone was welcome to participate.

The President of Samoa Badminton Federation Ms. Nynette Sass stated that the 2 days completion really see a strong development of badminton on the young ones.

Continue of the success of the Juniors from the AIMS in Tauranga NZ his year with 6 wins in all category has make her very confident for good results of the participations of Juniors with the Seniors in the Ocean Championship in Melbourne February 2019.

The Juniors Tournament starts last Friday 7th with the finals played on Saturday the 8th with supports of the Samoa Badminton Federation members in organizing and supporting the tournament. The Senior Open Tournament kick starts this Thursday and will run for 3 days from the Thursday 13th , Friday 14th and finals on Saturday 15th December.

The Team Manager; Mr Tomasi Peni, said that this final tournament will be the selection of the Squad for the Pacific Games to starts their trainings and preparation for the Pacific Games while the top 4 would be participating with the Juniors in the Ocean Championship in Melbourne in February 2019.

The Tournament for the Senior are also open; inviting anyone who like to participate apart from the financial members of the Federation.  The 2 tournaments as mentioned above are the 2 big events and we like to ensure that we have a good team and follow the criteria of selection.

The Registration for the Senior close this Tuesday 11th December. The results of the Junior Tournament are as follow: - Boys Single – Charles Sinonu and the Girl’s single winner is Jasmine Reti, for the Boy’s double winner are Charles Sinonu and Aukuso, while the girls double are – Jasmine and Theresa Reti, and the mix double won by Charles Sinonu and Fofoiga Reti.

The Under 15 years overall winner for 2018 is Elisa Teó. The committee is now in full preparation of the Senior’s tournament this week that will concluded with their Prize Giving Dinner host by the Federation for its members.
