Heavy responsibilities for mothers

Everything happening within families reflects the responsibilities of mothers.

This is the belief of a 37-year-old mother, Fa’ata Tautala from the village of Matautu Lefaga.

Mrs. Tautala met the Village Voice team while on her way to her village’s women’s meeting last week.

Mrs. Tautala says a lot has been happening within families nowadays and mothers were to blame.

“We all know that the responsibility of a mother is the most important role within any family and village.

“Mothers are the ones who their children are more close to in terms of sharing and discussing their lives. It’s not really their dads.

“When a family tends to have issues over and over again, then I think that family’s mother is not carrying out her responsibilities properly.

“We often hear that issues happening within families are because the dad is drunk, but I think the role as a mother is to not let him drink that beer.”

Mrs. Tautala also shared about her family.

“I have five children of my own and I am so close to them. I don’t work but I am doing a little work here at home to support them.

Mrs. Tautala also mentioned that mothers should always be aware of everything within the house.

“The kids are always the priority of the mother, cleaning and cooking comes after that, but being able to understand the kids is the best part.

“Wherever the children plans to go, the mother should always be the person to make sure they are safe,” she added.
