Hoping for cheaper internet

Re: Internet speeds open local job prospects This is a fantastic direction and support led by government. The potential to be unlocked using I.C.T. is not limited to these types of operations and I hope the government lets the private sector share some of the reins on where this industry could be headed for the future.

More exposure needed

Re: Samoa A Samoa needs more time to develop local talent. Going on tour, as well as competing in tournaments is key. A schoolboy’s team should go on tour and should also have an annual competition involving Fiji, Tonga, Cook Islands, etc.

An open letter to leaders of Samoa

Dear Editor, A headless body loses its life. It is the reason why foreign military invaders historically go after the leaders first of the invaded communities. Take away the leadership and the community will scatter making it easier to defeat them.

What might have happened with the Tiavea project

Dear Editor The sale of goods and services are largely governed by the laws of supply and demand but for the sale of land the rules are slightly different. In this instance the sale price is often determined not by what the market is prepared to offer but by what the seller is willing to accept.

Apply same rule to everyone

Re: Editorial on customs duty issue I was wondering why the Minister couldn’t disclose the companies and how often they use this route? Because that will tell us if they are cash strapped and not some multi million dollar warehouse.

Waste of money

Time to introduce a fine

Re: Apia’s growing litter problem an eyesore It’s great to see this initiative in Samoa and good on Shaanarlei for doing this. It is apparent for anyone travelling to Samoa that there is an issue with the rubbish and is something the government needs to sort out (it’s right outside the government’s doorstep to see).

The issue of land at Tiavea and the taxing of church Ministers

Dear Editor Re: Give Tiavea Village a fair go This letter is wrong. At the moment, the land is just bush. There is little value there at the moment. The land is yet to be built on and used. Only then will the value of the land increase. Not before.

Sort it out now

Re: Tialavea says Ministers should divest shares The House Standing Orders need to take care of this tumultuous concern it’s becoming louder and louder day by day. It is becoming far too common in this day and age in Samoa for people to suspect a conflict of interest emerges even if it’s a genuine bid especially when one holds public office.

Your one eyed unbalanced editorial “Bullying tactics, church, desperation and hypocrites”

Dear Sir, So you thought tax for church ministers is a “Bullying tactics, church, desperation and hypocrites” as you had editorialised? So you think Mr. Editor the CCCS church ministers, who are earning very very high incomes, should continue to be treated differently from the rest of the taxpayers in Samoa, and give them an exceptional utmost above all else courtesy in the country?

Manu Samoa vs Samoa A? Let’s campaign to make it happen

Let’s make it happen. Seriously. While the calls for Samoa A to play the Manu Samoa perhaps started out as a joke, it could actually be one of the best things to happen in Samoan rugby by a long stretch. And not just because of the negativity surrounding the latest selection of the country’s national team, Manu Samoa.
