S.V.S.G. Sydney wins awards

P.R. - One of the international sub-groups of Samoa Victim Support Group, the S.V.S.G. Sydney, won three prestigious awards during the 2016 New South Wales Council for Pacific Communities Award Night in September.

S.V.S.G. Sydney won the Community Event-Education category for an Awareness Campaign on Child Sexual Abuse in which 30,000 people were engaged. Receiving the award on behalf of SVSG Sydney was Lefao Geoffrey Ropati, the Secretary to the sub-group.

In other award categories, our young volunteer Elijah was recognized for his volunteer work overall with S.V.S.G. Sydney. Another S.V.S.G. Sydney volunteer Eli was recognized for his efforts with the sub-groups, in particular forleading the Friends of Hope volunteer trip to Samoa in 2015. The trip saw a group of 20 S.V.S.G. Sydney volunteers spending time at the Campus of Hope, assisting with the children’s daily activities.

This is the third year in a row that S.V.S.G. Sydney has been recognized for their efforts within the Pacific Communities in New South Wales.

S.V.S.G. President Siliniu Lina Chang congratulated the S.V.S.G. Sydney Director, Mrs. Cecilia Theodor and the committed SVSG Sydney Volunteers for their hard work and for leading the way in addressing child protection issues affecting the children in their community.
