Samoa Handball extends programmes

Reflecting Samoa Handball Association’s motto “One Community - One Big Family” S.H.A. has an exciting programme organised in two phases according to their management.

Phase 1- SHA Academy - Primary & Secondary Schools Development Programmes & Competitions.

Samoa Handball will be hosting two IHF Handball in Schools Project coaching courses held at the MESC Conference room as follows-

Course 1. Mon 11.07.16 -  Wed 13.07.16 @ 8 .45am - 4pm *Upolu schools

Course 2.  Thur 14.07.16 - Sat.16.07.16 @ 8.45am - 4pm*Savaiii schools

SHA has partnered with MESC to deliver this course for the benefit of the children and youth of Samoa.

MESC has been approached to allow the release of sports PE staff and Year 12-13 students from Upolu and Savaii to attend this IHF accredited course.

MESC CEO, Dr.Karoline believes that it is essential that MESC staff and students participate in learning this relatively new sport to Samoa, which is an Olympic sport.

This is a view shared by Mr Luatua Semi Epati, ACEO Sports Division at MESC and he thanked SHA on behalf of the MESC CEO for this wonderful opportunity.

The course lecturer is IHF expert Mr.Juhasz Istvan from Hungary who also is the Head coach for the Mens National teams of Turkey and Hungary He.

Mr London Leauma who was the Captain of the Samoa Junior Men Under 20 teams is excited to participate in this course. He is the SHA Schools Development Officer and is in his last year of his Bachelor of Education at  the National University of Samoa majoring in Physical Education.

Mission and Private Schools can participate in the second course by registering their two teachers and three or four senior year 12 -13 students by contacting the number below.  

Furthermore, SHA encourages village and church youth teams to register in this course to gain an IHF certificate to also please call mobile number 7580740.

We expect that all participants will then go back to their schools and prepare their teams for the upcoming SHA Academy Primary and Secondary Schools Championships to be held @ the end of July 2016 and finishes in Mid-September 2016 culminating in the Top Four Playoffs.

Primary Schools Competition: Boys & Girls Under 14-12-10-8

Secondary Schools Competition: Boys & Girls Under 20-18-16-men

SHA hopes that as many schools and players -boys and girls become part of the SHA Academy Programme and that teachers and parents get involved as volunteer coaches and referees to enjoy, participate and share our One Community - One Big Family spirit of living in peace -love -and harmony.

There will be at least 4 persons per club to be trained as SHA referees..
