Brave and courageous

Re: Minister issues final warning

Well said, Minister Tialavea!

It is a brave and courageous Minister to stand up to the bullying by the largest denomination in the country - the E.F.K.S.

No other church in the country has objected to this law. Just the E.F.K.S.

I love my E.F.K.S. church but on this issue, Rev. Vavatau and the rest of the Malua fonotele have got it woefully wrong.

How can it be that E.F.K.S. churches in New Zealand are paying taxes to the New Zealand I.R.D. on account of their charitable trust laws, yet Rev Vavatau says that the E.F.K.S. will not pay taxes in Samoa?

That money in NZ is church money. The E.F.K.S. is getting taxed as a church over there.

Samoa’s tax law does not tax church money (taulaga, atinae etc), just the money going to the faifeau for his personal use (alofa).

Rev Vavatau’s position is completely untenable and hypocritical. Also, Romans 13;1 to 13;7 states that everyone must pay taxes to the government because the government are God’s appointed rulers on earth.
