A 23-year-old father of Tanugamanono and Saleimoa was found dead on Monday morning.

Police Spokesperson Su’a Muliaga Tiumalu the young man went fishing with other men of the village when tragedy struck.

Only five men returned but the deceased never return.

“There were six of them who went fishing on Friday night and after that only five of the fishermen came back,” he said.

“They couldn’t find him so they came home however, on Monday they found his body on the other side of the village floating around he was already dead.”

A village member who wishes to stay anonymous told the Samoa Observer the deceased goes by the name Sefo.

“He is a father of two,” said the village member. “They went fishing on Monday with five other men of the village."

“What I know is that Sefo went too deep to the ocean when it was high tide. It was too late for him to get back and the current was so strong that it took him further."

“The others were looking for him the whole day yesterday but never found him however, it was just this morning that some members of the villages found his body not far from where his home is."

“His body was floating on the sea.”

The village member describes Sefo as a humble person.

“He is a loving person,” he said.

“He’s from Tanugamanono but he‘s married to a girl from here but he loves his family very much especially his children."

“He will be sorely missed because of his unforgettable attitude towards his kids."

“I guess this is one of those incidents that just happens and we just expect the unexpected.”
