Whatever job you are given in this life, work hard because that is your calling from God.

That is the view of Fiu Ioane, 51 years old from the village of Saleimoa and Sili, Satupaitea.

Fiu Ioane is a father of eight children. He said that he used to work but he stopped working when his children started working.

“Two of my children are now working and the rest are still in school, you know still working their way towards a better future.

“I don’t encourage my children to be the type of people that depend on other people because we are not going to be together forever,” he says to the Village Voice.

Mr. Ioane said the world is facing a lot of problems and one of those problem is widespread unemployment.

That is why he is pushing his children to do well in school because he doesn’t want them to grow up the same way.

“If our children become successful, they are the ones who are going to answer to our needs and trust me, that’s any parents’ happiness.

Mr. Ioane said that he has been thinking of going back to work but then he saw that his children are doing great in doing what he has been doing, taking care of the family.

“I always knew my children are the future of my family and I am so proud of what they have become, I stand corrected,” he said.

“My children are now doing my job from back then and that is providing for the family and I am happy about it. I don’t have to worry about anything else.

Mr. Ioane said how our children turn out depends on how the parents have raised them and he advised every parent to put their children first.

“Teach your kids the right way; they deserve to know about everything that’s a struggle right now because that is a motivation point for them.

“They will make a better future from that.”
