An information technology company is positioning itself to meet the challenges of transitioning into the digital age.

Lelata-based company Connect IT is run by couple Dane Curry and Rosie Yen-Curry, who are the company’s managing directors, and bring with them skills and experience in information technology and business systems management.

They strive to improve business operations and government processes by offering innovative IT solutions.

“We are trying to help our clients from an I.T. perspective so we can improve their operations by utilising innovative I.T. solutions. 

“Businesses need information technology every day and it is important for them to adapt to growing technologies in order to keep up with competitive demands.

“Right now, the mindset in Samoa is that I.T. is a business expense but looking at it from a financial point of view, we see it as an investment because technology saves a lot of time for the operations of a company which benefits the consumer overall,” said Mrs. Curry. 

Mr. Curry says while technology in Samoa is still not up to date with countries like New Zealand and Australia, they still want to ensure that they deliver high quality services and professionalism in line with their company policy. This is why the company formed strategic partnerships with reputable international companies within the IT industry, such as Microsoft, VMware, Cisco and Dell EMC – which enables them to deliver solutions – which in the past would have required expertise from abroad.  

Mrs. Curry said: “What makes us unique is with the systems we have in place, we project an international standard. We were both working in New Zealand for a period of time and implementing that through what we do here in Samoa, that’s one point of difference with us. In terms of expertise and qualifications we have the most qualified senior IT technicians.”

Last month the couple attended the annual Dell E.M.C Partner Summit, which was significant for them as they were the first Samoan owned ICT company to be invited. 

“The Dell E.M.C Summit gave us the chance to network as well as the opportunity to share with other Dell E.M.C Partners in the Asia Pacific about how Samoa’s IT standards had improved over the years, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement. You could say that Samoa is a mile away from using such technology.”

While they were coy about some of the services they plan to offer, they were pleased to announce the opening of a branch in American Samoa, after the new Tui-Samoa Cable is fully operationalised. 

“We have got a lot of things in the pipeline. With Connect IT we haven’t ever reached half of what we want to roll out and only because it’s limited to the internet. When the internet is stable and more affordable for a lot of people, the solutions we intend to give out to businesses, it’s going to be very beneficial for them,” added Rosie.
