The ten different Colleges who competed in the 3rd Annual Samoa Ne’i Galo School Festival this year each received prizes yesterday.

The finale of the show was held yesterday in front of the government building. The venue was packed with hundreds of families, friends and representatives from the ten schools and tourists. This is the first time the competition is being held during the time of Teuila.

The results for this year’s competition are:-

Most entertaining schools: Leifiifi College & Aleipata College

Best Conduct:- Maluafou College & Faleata College

Most Spirited: Leulumoega Fou College & Sanele College.

Best Fa’ataupati (slap dance)- Wesely College.

Best Ma’ulu’ulu- Avele College.

Best lape- Anoama’a College.

Best solo (Samoan monologues)- Sagaga College.

Samoa Ne’i Galo emphasises the practice of Samoan traditions and customs, as an integral part of the education system.

It is a tool by which the authenticity of Samoan culture is safeguarded and passed on to future generations.

It provides a platform for young people to engage in traditional and modern cultural expressions; it enhances cultural awareness, respect and understanding of Samoan culture & practices among Samoa’s youth; and it aims to mainstream Samoan cultural heritage as part of national development initiatives.
