There is no denying that Samoa is a beautiful country.

Travis Jordan, 20, and his partner Lucy Brown, 19, from Auckland, New Zealand are two of the many tourists who live to tell this.

This is their first time setting foot on Samoan soil.

Travis and Lucy were trying out different meals from several food stalls in front of the government building, yesterday, when they were approached by Dear Tourist for a chat.

Travis is amazed by the beauty of this island. 

“Samoa is absolutely beautiful,” Travis said. 

“I mean, we’ve been to Fiji, we’ve been to Rarotonga and after that, we just wanted to try somewhere a little bit different, you know, somewhere different from all the other islands and so we always hear stories about how Samoa is such a beautiful country. Now look at us, we’re here.”

Travis and Lucy have only been in the country for three days but they have made so many memories from the Teuila Festival shows and the variety of Samoan personalities that have come their way.

“You know the culture is awesome,” Travis added. “I mean, looking and meeting Samoan people; they are just so friendly and that’s a good thing because it makes you feel welcomed.

“It’s only been three days and even though we haven’t been to a lot of places and beaches on the island, we are enjoying our time here watching shows and entertainment for the festival.

He went on, “We haven’t even tried out the Samoan food yet, but my favorite part so far is the arts and crafts. I just think the arts and crafts are really beautiful and people are very creative when it comes to it.”

Travis and Lucy are staying at Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Beach Resort.

“A beautiful resort that offers a relaxed beach and that’s everything to us,” Lucy said.

“The weather is very, very hot but it’s good for us because we’re from New Zealand.

“Also, the employees provide very good service and people are all friendly.”

The tourists have no other plans yet, but one thing for sure is they are having fun at the Teuila Festival.

“We haven’t really tried a lot of things and haven’t been to any places, so that’s why we’re looking forward to trying everything that we can this week, and also taking a look around at what Samoans do.”
