The leader of the Tautua Samoa Party, Palusalue Fa’apo II, is set to break his silence about the General Election this afternoon.

Since Friday’s devastating defeat at the hands of the ruling Human Rights Protection Party (H.R.P.P), Palusalue has been declining media interviews.

When he was contacted by the Samoa Observer on Saturday, he said he was not ready to talk.

Yesterday, he said he would address the nation today when the Tautua Samoa Party holds a press conference at Matautu.

Palusalue’s party not only lost the election by an embarrassing margin, Palusalue also lost the Safata seat he has held for the past 15 years. Him and the Minister of Works, Manualesagalala Enokati Posala, were defeated by a newcomer.

The H.R.P.P secured 44 seats on Friday, although the official result will be known on Monday.

Only two members of the Tautua Party survived.

They are long serving M.P, Aeau Peniamina and new member, Ili Setefano Ta’ateo who defeated the Minister of Women, Community and Social Development, Tolofuaivalelei Falemoe Leiataua.

A third member, Olo Fiti Vaai, has offered to join the party.
